Roof repair
Most leaks are not the shingles. They are the flashing, the chimney, a skylight curb, or a valley — and finding out which one is the whole job.
Diagnosis before quoting
Water rarely enters a roof directly above the stain on your ceiling. It gets in somewhere higher up, travels along a rafter, and drops where it runs out of somewhere to go. Quoting a repair from the inside of the house is guessing.
We get on the roof and find the entry point. Sometimes that means a small repair to a valley or a length of step flashing. Sometimes it means telling you the roof has five years left and a repair now is the sensible spend.
We will tell you when it is not a replacement
The uncomfortable truth about roofing is that a replacement is worth a great deal more to the contractor than a repair. Honest pricing is one of the things customers raise most often in our reviews, and this is where it gets tested.
If your roof needs a repair, we will quote you a repair.
Storm and limb damage
New England storms take shingles off, drop branches through roofs, and pull gutters away from fascia. We handle emergency and same-season repairs, including the tarping that stops the damage getting worse while a proper repair is scheduled.
One of our customers had a limb come through the roof and had it handled the same day by a crew member named Gus. That kind of call is normal work for us, not an exception.
Common questions
- There is a stain on my ceiling but no active drip. Is it urgent?
- It is worth looking at. A stain means water has been getting in, and the damage to the deck and insulation is happening whether or not you can see a drip. Catching it while it is a flashing repair is considerably cheaper than catching it after the sheathing has gone soft.
- Will a repair match my existing shingles?
- Usually closely, rarely perfectly. Shingles weather, and manufacturers change color blends over the years. On a repair in a visible spot we will tell you honestly how close the match will be before we start.
- Do you repair roofs you did not install?
- Yes. Most of our repair work is on roofs installed by someone else.
